Bexley Coding Camp is headed into its sixth summer of camps with the addition of AI and circuitry programs! Over the past five summers, we have taught introductory computer science and engineering to hundreds of campers in Bexley. With an instructor-to-student ratio of 1:8, campers receive individualized instruction as they work towards making projects based on their interests.

Instructors: Duncan Johnson, Elliot Roe, Ava Wandersleben
Duncan is a computer science major at Tufts University and graduated from Bexley High School in 2022. Duncan has loved coding ever since he learned Scratch at a summer camp in 3rd grade and his goal is to inspire the next generation of computer scientists through his own summer camps.

Elliot is a computer science major at the Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated from Bexley High School in 2021. Passionate about computer science and education, Elliot loves to teach, code and everything in between! His goal is to create the next generation of tools to teach computer science for a more accessible learning experience for all students.

Ava took matters into her own hands, upon noticing a gender gap in STEM classes, and hosted an online coding camp for middle school girls during the summer of 2022. Ava’s goal is simple: to teach the necessary technical skills while creating a supportive and empowering environment for girls in STEM!

Engineering Explorers: Discover, Create, Innovate! (7 - 10 Years Old)

Circuit Craze: Arduinos & Electronics (11 - 14 Years Old)
Using Arduino microcontrollers, campers learn the fundamentals of electrical circuits. Campers will also use the real-world C++ text-based programming language to code their way through a series of challenges like an LED disco party. To conclude an electrifying week, campers work in teams to design, build, wire, and program a mini autonomous vehicle that can use sensor data to successfully navigate through an obstacle course. Please pack a peanut-free lunch and bring a water bottle
