The Friends of Bexley Community Gardens have two locations for gardening (North & South Bexley). This program is a collaboration between the community gardeners and the City of Bexley. Its’ purpose is to provide Bexley residents, as well as neighboring communities, with a place to garden and promote friendship. Garden bed assignments are subject to availability and confirmation of compliance with registration rules.
South Gardens: Schneider Park; N. of Livingston Ave.
North Gardens: By the Bexley PD; Delmar Dr.
(Plots: One 8’ x 14’ or two 4’ X 14’ raised beds)
2026 Registration Interest for New Gardeners
New garden registration is an automatic add to our running wait list. If a plot becomes available, this registration will determine the order in which spots are filled as openings will be subject to availability from returning gardeners. You will receive an email from nmullin@bexley.org if a plot is available and will pay the $40 at that time.
Once Accepted
- All new gardeners are required to attend a meeting where garden rules and responsibilities will be discussed.
- Additionally, if you pay for a plot and decide later in the season you no longer wish to garden with us, you are expected to clear the plot of all vegetation. We cannot refund your plot fee if the vegetation has not been removed and you will not be permitted to register for a garden plot the subsequent season.
- As a member of the Bexley Community Gardens, you are required to adhere to all garden rules, maintain your plot on a regular basis, including pathways surrounding your plot, and participate in garden work days.
Gardening Amenities & Classes
There are also several OSU Master Gardeners available throughout the season. They will provide education on a variety of garden topics and are happy to assist you with any garden-related issues. A garden shed with tools, compost, and water are all provided. Community Garden Classes will be scheduled throughout the season. All classes are announced by email.
Gardening Expectations
1. As a member of the Bexley Community Gardens, you are required to adhere to all garden rules, maintain your plot on a regular basis, including pathways surrounding your plot, and participate in garden work days.
2. Consistent attention to your garden is a must. Regular watering is crucial to ensure healthy plant growth, and weekly maintenance of your plot (including weeding) is expected to keep it productive and tidy.
3. Harvesting ripe produce on a regular basis is essential to prevent spoilage and maximize yield. We also encourage donating any excess produce to local food pantries, which helps support community members in need. Diligent care and attention to your plot will ultimately reward you with a plentiful and rewarding harvest, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
4. To create a true community garden, all members should also participate in the care of all areas of the gardens. Therefore, all gardeners are required to commit to a minimum of two (2) hours of volunteer time at either garden. There are many opportunities available throughout the season to fulfill this requirement and we hope you will enjoy time spent helping to maintain our beautiful gardens and join us on a regular basis.
