Woodland Night Walk (Aug. 15)

Enjoy the magic of a nighttime Jeffrey Woods with a hoot of an owl, a curious raccoon, the possible eyeshine of a passing animal, swooping bats, sparkly lightning bugs and the chatter of summertime insects during this family-friendly walk. Owl vocalizations, bat locators and furs of nighttime critters will be featured.
Fall In Love With Fall (Sep. 26)

You’re invited to explore a fall Jeffrey Woods using all your senses. Experience the colors of changing leaves, the deep greens in the conifer grove, the crisp fall air and the changing textures of the season. Amanda will share tips and tricks while arranging a beautiful garden-style fresh floral arrangement. Leave inspired and with more knowledge on how to enhance your own designs at home. The Southern Flying Squirrel: Facts About and Fascination With a Woodland Wonder (Nov. 8)

Flying squirrels are some of the most spectacular and seldom-seen, forest-dwelling, nocturnal mammals. This spring, Donald Althoff, Ph.D and Wildlife Biologist installed several southern flying squirrel nest boxes throughout Jeffrey Woods. To better understand this intriguing glider, join Don as he presents the many facets of southern flying squirrels based on his long-term monitoring, observation, hard mast surveys and nest box occupancy during winters across 6 counties in southeast Ohio. Field techniques, handling of these squirrels, box design, hardmast surveys and observations will be discussed.
