Looking for a class where you and your child can engage in purposeful play while growing their speech, sensory and motor skills? Our program combines the expertise of highly trained speech and occupational therapists with the joys of playtime using obstacle courses, sensory bins, crafts, story-time and fine-motor activities. Our class is sure to be a fun and engaging learning and relationship-building experience for children and their caregivers. Whether you're looking for a challenge, need support or just a place to have fun, we meet every child where they are developmentally and can curate our class to all. Instructors: Christina Johnson and Alexis MarinChristina is a licensed Occupational Therapist and has been practicing since 2015. She graduated from Rush University in Chicago with a Masters of Occupational Therapy following a Bachelors of Psychology at The Ohio State University (go bucks!).  She has worked with children of all ages and in various settings including a sensory-based outpatient clinic and in early invention. She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. She's thrilled to partner with her friend and fellow OT, Christina, to mainstream their play skills to the general public and provide fun, educational classes through The Play Spot!
