Pilates FA 25 (18+) - Pilates FA 25 (S1) Pilates lengthens and strengthens the muscles as well as uses core strength for every exercise. Although pilates is non-aerobic, it is an extremely effective way to strengthen and condition the muscles of the abdomen and back, thus helping to build a “girdle of strength” around the spine. Just come prepared to learn the coolest, most visual magic tricks ever invented!! All new tricks will be taught in this class, so the class is perfect. The Jones Chess Academy will provide students with the opportunity to learn chess history, world champion openings, solve middle game puzzles, practice endgame patterns, and utilize the necessary tools for tournament play. Each week, students will learn at least one theme on the display board, practice and create their own positions using that theme, and then engage in a tournament game against another student. All students will be able to earn prizes for their hard work.Instructor: Kyle Jones has coached more than 20 schools over the past 20 years. Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. From player to coach, Kyle has been a part of more than 40 state championship titles and 15 national titles. He was crowned the 2015-16 State of Ohio Speed Chess Champion (3rd title overall). Additionally, he was honored by Fox Sports Ohio, the Dispatch, 10tv, the Governor, the Mayor, the Board of Education, the Senate and the House of Representatives for his chess achievements.

Our goal is to assist every student to feel more comfortable while home alone. This interactive course teaches topics such as First Aid, Self Heimlich maneuver, reasons to call 911, fire escape plans, microwave safety and how to problem-solve out of the ordinary situations. A parent guide is included in the student manual which provides helpful discussion points between parent and child. Parents do not need to attend the class.Better Babysitters (10 - 14 Years Old)Would your child know what to do if the child they were babysitting were choking? Does your child babysit their younger siblings? Your child will learn the skills needed to be a Better Baby Sitter! This class includes guest speakers from the local Police and Fire Departments. All students will receive their own first aid kit to take home. This class is appropriate for boys and girls ages 10-14, and is interactive and fun with role play and hands on instruction.

The Jones Chess Academy will provide students with the opportunity to learn chess history, world champion openings, solve middle game puzzles, practice endgame patterns, and utilize the necessary tools for tournament play. Each week, students will learn at least one theme on the display board, practice and create their own positions using that theme, and then engage in a tournament game against another student. All students will be able to earn prizes for their hard work.Instructor: Kyle Jones has coached more than 20 schools over the past 20 years. Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. From player to coach, Kyle has been a part of more than 40 state championship titles and 15 national titles. He was crowned the 2015-16 State of Ohio Speed Chess Champion (3rd title overall). Additionally, he was honored by Fox Sports Ohio, the Dispatch, 10tv, the Governor, the Mayor, the Board of Education, the Senate and the House of Representatives for his chess achievements.

Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. From player to coach, Kyle has been a part of more than 40 state championship titles and 15 national titles. He was crowned the 2015-16 State of Ohio Speed Chess Champion (3rd title overall). Additionally, he was honored by Fox Sports Ohio, the Dispatch, 10tv, the Governor, the Mayor, the Board of Education, the Senate and the House of Representatives for his chess achievements.

She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. Our goal is to assist every student to feel more comfortable while home alone. This interactive course teaches topics such as First Aid, Self Heimlich maneuver, reasons to call 911, fire escape plans, microwave safety and how to problem-solve out of the ordinary situations. A parent guide is included in the student manual which provides helpful discussion points between parent and child. Parents do not need to attend the class.Better Babysitters (10 - 14 Years Old)Would your child know what to do if the child they were babysitting were choking? Does your child babysit their younger siblings? Your child will learn the skills needed to be a Better Baby Sitter! This class includes guest speakers from the local Police and Fire Departments. All students will receive their own first aid kit to take home. This class is appropriate for boys and girls ages 10-14, and is interactive and fun with role play and hands on instruction.

The Jones Chess Academy will provide students with the opportunity to learn chess history, world champion openings, solve middle game puzzles, practice endgame patterns, and utilize the necessary tools for tournament play. Each week, students will learn at least one theme on the display board, practice and create their own positions using that theme, and then engage in a tournament game against another student. All students will be able to earn prizes for their hard work.Instructor: Kyle Jones has coached more than 20 schools over the past 20 years. Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. She has worked with children of all ages and in various settings including a sensory-based outpatient clinic and in early invention. She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. Chess Club FA 25 (6 - 12 Years Old) - Chess Club FA 25 (K - 3rd) Students of all grades and levels are welcome to come learn the storied game of chess. The Jones Chess Academy will provide students with the opportunity to learn chess history, world champion openings, solve middle game puzzles, practice endgame patterns, and utilize the necessary tools for tournament play. Each week, students will learn at least one theme on the display board, practice and create their own positions using that theme, and then engage in a tournament game against another student. All students will be able to earn prizes for their hard work.Instructor: Kyle Jones has coached more than 20 schools over the past 20 years. Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. From player to coach, Kyle has been a part of more than 40 state championship titles and 15 national titles. He was crowned the 2015-16 State of Ohio Speed Chess Champion (3rd title overall). She has worked with children of all ages and in various settings including a sensory-based outpatient clinic and in early invention. She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. She's thrilled to partner with her friend and fellow OT, Christina, to mainstream their play skills to the general public and provide fun, educational classes through The Play Spot!

Students should wear form-fitting dancewear and may dance barefoot or in lyrical dance shoes.Fall to Winter Dance RegistrationThere is no recital for the Fall Dance Program. All participants who are enrolled in the Fall Dance Program will receive an email notification to register early for the Winter Dance Program, which includes a Spring Recital. To qualify for early registration, you must be registering for the exact same class as enrolled in for the Fall Dance Program (same time, day, instructor).Meet The instructorsMackenzie HannaMs. Mackenzie has worked with children of all ages as a teacher of both dance and Spanish. She has danced on her high school dance team. She has danced and choreographed with Miami University’s Vision Dance company in college, the theater company SNAP! and New Vision Dance Company. She also created and coached a dance team at a high school for three years. She has been teaching dance with Bexley Recreation for several years.Jennifer ZmudaMs. Jen has a Masters of Fine Arts with a Choreographic Emphasis from the University of California, Irvine and a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a Teaching Emphasis from the University of Utah. She also completed the ABT® Teacher Curriculum Training for Pre-Primary through Level 3. Alongside her teaching role at the Bexley Recreation Department, she serves as the photographer and filmmaker for BalletMet and owns a media production company, Jennifer Zmuda Photography.
