Would you like to learn a technique to calm the nervous system so that the body can do what it needs to do? Consider becoming a Reiki practitioner. Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is a Japanese energy practice. “Reiki” means Universal Life Force Energy. Practitioners use their hands to channel this energy which is all around us all the time. The hands can be placed on the body or can hover over the body.In this class, you will be attuned to the energy and will learn how to use your hands to help yourself and others. In the beginning level, we learn to give Reiki to ourselves and to those close to us. You also will learn about the history of Reiki and the different ways of practicing it. No one knows how or why Reiki works. This class will teach you breathing techniques to calm the mind and/or energize the body. You will learn various poses to stretch and strengthen your muscles. Gentle Yoga is not a gym workout, but a body/mind work in. By paying attention to your body, you will learn to be more present and mindful.This is a mat yoga class which will require getting down to the floor and back up again. Art HealthyJoin certified art therapist Kathy Lamancusa as she shares the benefits of incorporating art into our lives. Each week will feature a different art project or craft. Projects will vary and may include drawing, painting, and creating DIY craft pieces. Supplies are provided.MacrameMacrame is back in a big way and is currently being created with new materials that make it softer on the hands, with new techniques that update the look and feel, making it perfect for today's homes. No experience necessary. Cording will be pre-cut and all supplies are included. The macrame boards will be provided for use during the class.Bow TyingHave you dreamed of being able to create beautiful bows for your holiday decor and gift giving? Now is your chance to learn how! During this class you will create two large red bows using two different techniques suitable for adding to a wreath or garland and one mid-sized bow that is perfect to use for decorating Christmas trees or holiday packages. The techniques that are taught break the process down step-by-step and take into account possible aging hands and arthritic joints. He is also certified in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Diabetes, which uses both the Yang and Sun styles of Tai Chi.
