Have you ever wanted to try yoga, but didn’t think you could get up and down on a mat? Would you like to practice a gentle form of yoga in which you will sit or stand behind a chair? Chair Yoga is modified to be accessible to all. Science has shown that yoga is beneficial for everyone and it is never too late to benefit from exercising.Participants have the option to come in-person or participate via Zoom. Although pilates is non-aerobic, it is an extremely effective way to strengthen and condition the muscles of the abdomen and back, thus helping to build a “girdle of strength” around the spine. The term "difference makers" is commonly used in the scouting community to describe the very best players at each position. Now is the time to build good habits and prevent or eliminate any bad habits that may stunt your child's football development, and that's exactly what we'll be focusing on. The fundamentals we'll be working on in these sessions are crucial to maximizing your child's potential development in football.Instructor: Todd Worly, BHS AlumniTodd was a three-year starter on the football team at the College of Wooster, he has been working in management, scouting and coaching in pro and college football for nearly 20 years for employers such as the NFL Players Association, the XFL and the CFL, and is excited to share his experience, knowledge and passion for the game with the next generation in Bexley. Studies have shown the positive benefits of yoga for all ages. Yoga involves linking the mind, body, and breath. You do not have to be flexible or fit to start practicing yoga. This class will teach you breathing techniques to calm the mind and/or energize the body. You will learn various poses to stretch and strengthen your muscles. Gentle Yoga is not a gym workout, but a body/mind work in. The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department will host the 13th Annual Splish, Splash, & Dash – Bexley Youth Triathlon sponsored by the Bexley Community Foundation’s Youth and Recreation Fund. This is a great opportunity for our youth to challenge themselves, stay active, and all while having a fun time. The triathlon will require participants to complete a swimming, biking, and running course. With age divisions ranging from 4 to 14, varying distances will be selected for each leg that are age appropriate. (for 4 - 14 years old) In addition to our full youth triathlon, we are excited to announce the addition of an adapted ‘swim/bike/run’ event for children with developmental disabilities, or physical limitations; including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, global delays, etc. ALL abilities are welcome, including those that may require the use of flotation devices, adapted bikes, walkers, power wheelchairs, and other assisting devices. All athletes will be paired up with volunteers to encourage, assist and ensure safety. Please note: All athletes will receive an award for finishing the event. The event will be timed, but there will not be trophies for different age groups.

She graduated from Rush University in Chicago with a Masters of Occupational Therapy following a Bachelors of Psychology at The Ohio State University (go bucks!).  She has worked with children of all ages and in various settings including a sensory-based outpatient clinic and in early invention. She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. She's thrilled to partner with her friend and fellow OT, Christina, to mainstream their play skills to the general public and provide fun, educational classes through The Play Spot!

Midweek Reset is a new class which will incorporate movement and relaxation. All students will be able to earn prizes for their hard work.Instructor: Kyle Jones has coached more than 20 schools over the past 20 years. Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. From player to coach, Kyle has been a part of more than 40 state championship titles and 15 national titles. He was crowned the 2015-16 State of Ohio Speed Chess Champion (3rd title overall). Additionally, he was honored by Fox Sports Ohio, the Dispatch, 10tv, the Governor, the Mayor, the Board of Education, the Senate and the House of Representatives for his chess achievements.

She graduated from Rush University in Chicago with a Masters of Occupational Therapy following a Bachelors of Psychology at The Ohio State University (go bucks!).  She has worked with children of all ages and in various settings including a sensory-based outpatient clinic and in early invention. She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. She's thrilled to partner with her friend and fellow OT, Christina, to mainstream their play skills to the general public and provide fun, educational classes through The Play Spot!

This event is open to all pool members (resident and non-resident) as well as Bexley resident non-members. The leisure and competition pools will be open for dog swim. Pre-Registration is required! Small Dogs (50 lbs or less) - 600pLarge Dogs (50 lbs or more) - 700pPolicies1. A signed waiver is required for entrance (done as a part of online registration). Owners must supply a copy of the dog’s current rabies vaccination and other immunizations. Or show a current dog tag detailing updated vaccination information.2. Humans may wade no more than knee high as the water is chemical free.3. If a dog starts to struggle in the water, the owner may then enter the water.4. Lifeguards may also help you remove your dog from the water.5. Owners are responsible for the immediate disposal of their dog’s waste - inside oroutside of the pool’s facility.6. Dogs must be on a leash when entering and exiting the facility. This includes the parking lot and surrounding park! A leash should only be taken off if the dog is swimming in the water.7. Your dog must remain under your control at all times. If the dog acts aggressively, please wait until the dog calms down before unleashing. If your dog misbehaves and bites another dog or another owner, the police will be called to file a report and the owner and dog will be escorted from the event.

Studies have shown the positive benefits of yoga for all ages. Yoga involves linking the mind, body, and breath. You do not have to be flexible or fit to start practicing yoga. This class will teach you breathing techniques to calm the mind and/or energize the body. You will learn various poses to stretch and strengthen your muscles. Gentle Yoga is not a gym workout, but a body/mind work in. By paying attention to your body, you will learn to be more present and mindful.This is a mat yoga class which will require getting down to the floor and back up again. Midweek Reset is a new class which will incorporate movement and relaxation. There may be breath work or mediation during the session.  The first 30 minutes will be seated and standing gentle yoga, and the second 30 minutes will be yin yoga, restorative yoga or a combination which will consist of yoga poses that will be held from 2-6 minutes (yin) or up to 15 minutes (restorative).  Class is appropriate for all levels, but getting up and down from the floor will be required. Each week, students will learn at least one theme on the display board, practice and create their own positions using that theme, and then engage in a tournament game against another student. All students will be able to earn prizes for their hard work.Instructor: Kyle Jones has coached more than 20 schools over the past 20 years. Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology, is completing his Master’s in Early Childhood Education, earned his Protecting God’s Children certification, and has achieved the titles of Candidate Master (classical) and National Master (blitz) from the United States Chess Federation. From player to coach, Kyle has been a part of more than 40 state championship titles and 15 national titles. He was crowned the 2015-16 State of Ohio Speed Chess Champion (3rd title overall). Additionally, he was honored by Fox Sports Ohio, the Dispatch, 10tv, the Governor, the Mayor, the Board of Education, the Senate and the House of Representatives for his chess achievements.

She has two children, Rooney (girl, age 3) and Delta (boy, age 1) and is married to her husband, Matt. She has always used a play-based approach to therapy but was ready to step outside the therapy world and use her background to provide fun, engaging classes through The Play Spot that focuses on building developmental skills with her partner and friend, Alexis (speech therapist). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, live music, reading and being outside.Alexis has been a practicing speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 8 years. She received degrees from Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and Indiana State. Alexis found her passion in pediatrics and has previously served in sensory clinics, schools, and in-home all with a focus on PLAY. Outside of the speech world, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors exploring in and around Columbus with her two children Jayce and Ayla, partner John, and dog Nyla. She also enjoys self-development podcasts, DIYs, and trying local coffee shops. She's thrilled to partner with her friend and fellow OT, Christina, to mainstream their play skills to the general public and provide fun, educational classes through The Play Spot!

This advanced fitness class is for those looking for a more intense workout. This class will be in a circuit and participants will move through three sets of each station. Although this class will include heavier weights and more advanced moves (including floor exercises) it is still appropriate for active aging adults as each person will choose their level of challenge. Pilates lengthens and strengthens the muscles as well as uses core strength for every exercise. Although pilates is non-aerobic, it is an extremely effective way to strengthen and condition the muscles of the abdomen and back, thus helping to build a “girdle of strength” around the spine. In 2018 he was introduced to the exciting sport of Pickleball, and he quickly became enamored with the game. As an accomplished player and having medaled in men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and singles, he currently competes at the 5.0 level, demonstrating his impressive talents and inspiring others to strive for excellence. Elijah’s love for pickleball is undeniable, and he feels truly fulfilled by sharing his passion for the sport with others through coaching and competition.

Kidz Home Alone (9 - 12 Years Old)Are you ready to educate your child about the responsibilities of being home alone? Our goal is to assist every student to feel more comfortable while home alone. This interactive course teaches topics such as First Aid, Self Heimlich maneuver, reasons to call 911, fire escape plans, microwave safety and how to problem-solve out of the ordinary situations. A parent guide is included in the student manual which provides helpful discussion points between parent and child.  Parents do not need to attend the class.Better Babysitters (10 - 14 Years Old)Would your child know what to do if the child they were babysitting were choking? Does your child babysit their younger siblings?  Your child will learn the skills needed to be a Better Baby Sitter!  This class includes guest speakers from the local Police and Fire Departments. All students will receive their own first aid kit to take home. This class is appropriate for boys and girls ages 10-14, and is interactive and fun with role play and hands on instruction.

Studies have shown the positive benefits of yoga for all ages. Yoga involves linking the mind, body, and breath. You do not have to be flexible or fit to start practicing yoga. This class will teach you breathing techniques to calm the mind and/or energize the body. You will learn various poses to stretch and strengthen your muscles. Gentle Yoga is not a gym workout, but a body/mind work in. By paying attention to your body, you will learn to be more present and mindful.This is a mat yoga class which will require getting down to the floor and back up again. Midweek Reset is a new class which will incorporate movement and relaxation. There may be breath work or mediation during the session.  The first 30 minutes will be seated and standing gentle yoga, and the second 30 minutes will be yin yoga, restorative yoga or a combination which will consist of yoga poses that will be held from 2-6 minutes (yin) or up to 15 minutes (restorative).  Class is appropriate for all levels, but getting up and down from the floor will be required. This is an open gym format for players 18 years and older.
